Wills and Probate Solicitor in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey

A new vacancy has arisen with a solicitors firm of medium size based in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, about 300 metres from Kingston train station. They are looking for

a) a Wills and Probate Locum to start on or around the 31st October for 4+ weeks to cover for illness, and
b) a full time permanent Wills & Probate Solicitor.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced dynamic and ambitious Solicitor to join and lead a busy and expanding Private Client department. The job description is set out below:-

Specific duties:    Proficiency is required in the following areas:
(i) Will drafting;
(ii) Administration of Estates;
(iii) Drafting of settlements – including Interest in Possession and Discretionary Trusts;
(iv) Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax applicable to individuals and Trusts;
(v) Deeds of Variation;
(vi) Inheritance Tax Rules including familiarity with reliefs, the relevant property regime and gifts with reservation of benefit;
(vii) Lasting Powers of Attorney;
(viii) Court of Protection, Deputyship and issues affecting the elderly;
(ix) Lifetime Tax Planning;
(x) Administration of Trusts.

The firm does not undertake Offshore Tax Planning and Offshore Trust Administration.

The position will offer a salary at an appropriate level commensurate with the experience of the successful applicant; Private Health Care (subject to qualifying conditions); a bonus based on fees earned and paid exceeding a target; and an introductory bonus scheme for new work introduced to the firm.
