Commercial Contracts Lawyer
Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England
£50 - 60 per hour + estimated

A new vacancy has arisen with a Lincolnshire based company looking for a commercial contracts lawyer to join them for a minimum of 6 months for 2-3 days a week. Duration may well be a lot longer. The company have plenty of work each week.
Job spec below.
Background - Due to our General Counsel returning to private practice, we require the following part time support from a qualified lawyer

Role - Commercial/Contract Lawyer

Hours - 2 to 3 days per week

Duration - Minimum 6 Months

Basis - Hourly or daily rate

Start - Ideally immediate or within a week

Location - Remote work fine, possibly travel to main office in Lincolnshire from time to time.

Description of Company - 15M global business operating in the Oil & Gas, Power Generation and industrial sectors. We buy and sell worldwide and our customers can be blue chip OEMs, such as Shell in the UK, or a one man broker in Cameroon. Inbound, this is a contract heavy business, with Long Term Service Agreements lasting 6 years or more, contracts for a specific overhauls in our workshop, mobilisation to a customers site to carry out field service (sometimes in the middle of the ocean!) and the sale of capital goods. Complexities are payment terms, transfer of title, warranties, liability, service, jurisdiction, retentions and eventually getting paid! That said, there is nothing unique or out of the ordinary in what we do and we have well defined terms of what is acceptable in a contract. We would ideally like someone not only to redline contracts received and propose amendments, but negotiate with in house legal teams or customers representatives to create an agreed form. Outbound contract work consists of back-to-back contracts for goods and services and the purchase of capital goods globally. Experience of litigation for breach of contract and to secure payments plus management of insurance services would be an advantage but not essential at all.
