A new vacancy has arisen with a lawtech company. We have worked with this company before - the directors happy to utilise in house legal consultants and it has gone well so far. Firm have an external barrister assisting them as well. They are in need of a litigation consultant - ie someone to handle the management of a specific case for them. It relates to an allegation of fraud in a dormant company. The directors of the company are looking to appoint a litigator as a director of the company with a mandate to wind the business up and to recover any fraudulent transactions. There is scope here for a litigator to share in the recovery of the funds through a profit share if wanted but similarly the company are very happy to keep the arrangement to working on an hourly rate or a monthly retainer type arrangement.

The potential recovery is worth up to 10M, so even if they recover 50% it would be a good outcome. The former directors all have property and one of the parties is a competitor in the industry which is owned by a PE fund, so plenty of assets to go after.
