An established solicitors firm based in Skegness have a vacancy for a full time, permanent costs draftsperson. The firm may consider the possibility of a degree of home working depending on the candidate. The firm are looking for candidates with: With a background in Costs from either an in-house team or a cost drafting firm, with 3-5 years' experience. Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in law, however, other degrees demonstrating skills in analysis, writing and numeral skills will be taken into consideration. Possess excellent communication skills, including a good telephone manner, with the ability to negotiate. Meticulous eye for detail and excellent computer skills. As a Costs Draftsman the successful candidate will assume a wide range of responsibilities including, but not be limited to: Considering fee earners' files of papers, quantifying the work completed and preparing Bills of Costs for Court assessment - these consist of an item by item breakdown of the work done, and a factual description of the circumstances of the case. Estimating future work to be completed by fee earners and budgeting for the same in Court documents. Negotiating Bills of Costs with Defendants, both in writing and directly over the telephone. Advising in-house fee earners on costs issues. Ideally the successful candidate will have:- Experience with complex, multi-track and fast track claims A working knowledge of MOJ processes Stage 1-3 Salary dependant on experience. Vacancy 15586.
